STEP 1: Install Brackets Right- hand and left- hand mounting brackets are packed with each blind. The brackets are stamped R. H. or L. H. on the inside of each bracket for easy identification. These brackets are used for all types of mounting- outside, inside, and ceiling mounts. Bracket doors must face inside of room.
(NOTE : Two screws are supplied for each bracket. These are screws with Phillips heads, suitable for wood or sheet metal mounting surfaces. For PLASTER, DRYWALL, STONE, BRICK or TILE installations, we recommend using plugs or anchors.)
INSIDE MOUNT: With mounting brackets level and flush with window frame, screw through holes on inside of bracket into window frame. Note: For 3" Wood Blind the depth of the window must be at least 4".
OUTSIDE MOUNT/CEILING MOUNT: With blind open, hold it up to wall/ ceiling in the position you want it to hang. Make sure the blind is centered and level. Mark the wall 1/ 4" past the end of the headrail. Remove blind and place mounting brackets level on pencil marks. Secure with screws.
WIDE TAPE BLINDS (IF APPLICABLE): Wide tape blinds may require a bracket shim to allow clearance in ceiling mount installations. Prior to tightening installation screws, insert the shim between the bracket and ceiling an then tighten screws. Repeat procedure for center brackets.
Spacer Block (IF APPLICABLE): Align holes in back of bracket to holes in spacer block and secure to wall with screws. Screw through holes on inside of bracket and plastic spacer block into window frame.
STEP 2: Attach Valance Clips Attach valance clips to front of headrail. Push down to snap in place. Make sure to install one clip on each end, and space others evenly, no more than 48" apart. Do not install valance at this time.
STEP 3: Insert Headrail Release bracket door latches by pressing up on the bottom of the bracket while lifting bracket door to the open position. Slide headrail into mounting brackets. Close bracket door latches.
(End Stiffeners - These are located at the ends of the headrail to keep the headrail rigid and provide end adjustments. If headrail moves left or right more than 1/ 8", adjust tabs outward on end stiffeners.)
STEP 4: Wand Assembly (applicable only if wand option was chosen) Pull wand cap off from wand. Slip wand onto hook. Push wand cap down over hook to secure wand.
STEP 5: Install Valance Swing valance returns to fully open position. Bend plastic valance hinge tab towards return and place leading edge of tab under lip of hinge on the return. Align valance clips with the Kwik-Klip channel on the back of wood valance. Press on face of valance to lock in place.
NOTE: FOR 3" WOOD BLINDS, do not remove the protective adhesive strip from the top slat, this is to prevent scratching of slat during tilting motion.
That's
it! Here are
some tips
to operate
your new faux
wood blind/s
To
Tilt Slats
-
Pull
the tilt cord
or rotate
wand to desired
slat angle.
IMPORTANT
:
Keep
slats tilted
open while
raising and
lowering blind.
To
Raise Blind
-Pull
cord downward
until blind
reaches desired
height. Release
cord and blind
locks
automatically.
To
Lower Blind
-
Gently
pull cord
toward center
of blind until
lock releases.
Let cord slip
slowly through
your fingers
until blind
reaches desired
height. Move
cord toward
outside of
blind and
release. Blind
will lock
automatically.
Aligning
Blind -
After
installing
the blind,
tilt it open,
then raise
and lower
it several
times. This
will allow
the cords
and slats
to align themselves.
Removing
Blind -
Remove
valance then
raise blind
to top and
lock. Open
both bracket
door latches
and pull the
blind out.
Dusting-
Like
any piece
of furniture,
dust your
blinds regularly.
Use an ordinary
soft, clean
cloth, chemically-
treated dust
cloth, dusting
mitt, vacuum
cleaner with
brush attachment
or cylindrical
dust brushes
especially
designed for
blinds. The
paint surface
of the slats
is smooth
and dust is
easily brushed
off, when
dusted during
regular cleaning.
Lower the
blind to its
full length,
then tilt
the slats
almost fully
closed and
dust. Then
do the
reverse side
of the slats
in the same
manner. In
order to reach
the dust where
the slats
overlap, it
is best not
to fully close
the blind
in either
position.
Miscellaneous
Center Support Brackets are included with blinds over 56" wide to provide extra support. Space brackets evenly along width of the blind. Center bracket should not interfere with the cord or ladder. Be sure all brackets are level. Secure with screws.
Hold- Down Brackets are used to keep the bottom from swaying when mounted on doors or exposed to the wind. Screw brackets (one on each side) into the bottom of window jam or sill. Slip pin on the bottom rail end caps or wood hold- down pin into brackets.
Extension Brackets are used to mount the blind farther away from the window/ wall to clear thick window moldings or ledges. Secure extension bracket to wall with 2 long screws. Using nuts and 2 short bolts, attach mounting bracket to extension bracket as shown or, attach center support bracket to extension bracket like a ceiling mount. 3" WOOD
